Project Details:

Intensive engagement with the end user took place over several design workshop sessions to consolidated fragmented services together under one roof and formed a new re branded service called the ‘Wyre Youth Zone’. In line with this, the interior design was specifically chosen to reflect the new identity via the new colours, shapes and patterns and give holistic approach to new outward thinking service. We produce 3d images to communicate the vision and obtain necessary approval from stakeholders,

The other main challenge was to lead and create an collaborative working environment with design team/endusers and the external consultants. We were able to achieve the following goals which were set at the outsets;

  • a best value solution with a design offering minimum distruption to existing staff/users
  • maintained design quality within restricted cost model
  • energy efficient building and met LCC sustainable targets
  • holistic design amalgamating different service under one umbrella
  • met certain milestones within overall programme
  • increased security and enhance openness of the existing structure
  • introduced multiple flexible spaces by using bespoke furniture adaptable flexible furniture offering opportunity to learn, play and work
  • collated and prepared all survey information in readiness to recieve accurate tender price and minimise unforeseen extras
  • encourage best practice and lesson learnt from design team client to achieve optimum design solution
  • shorten the construction period through rationalisation of demolition works and energy strategy

All the tender information was achieved within agree time and contractor selected however the project was cancelled by the council in order to re-valuate expenditure for all services in response to the pending recession and funding reduced from government.
